Quick answer
Every My Timber Pets animal can carry one of five mutation tiers: Normal, Gold, Diamond, Demon or Galaxy. Higher tiers multiply value and trade demand; Galaxy is the rarest and most valuable layer.
The five tiers
Mutation is a layer stamped on top of an animal, separate from its rarity tier. The Pet Index filters show Normal, Gold, Diamond, Demon and Galaxy in that order of increasing value.
- Normal: the base layer every animal starts with.
- Gold: an early upgrade layer, often a player's first special pet.
- Diamond: a high-value layer with reported odds near 1 in 500M for some animals.
- Demon: a high-value layer, reported near 1 in 10K to 1 in 500K depending on the animal.
- Galaxy: the rarest layer, reported near 1 in 12B to 1 in 100M for the animals we logged.
Mutation is not rarity
Rarity is the Lucky Egg roll tier; mutation is applied on top. A Common animal can carry a Galaxy mutation, and a GOD animal can sit at Normal. The two layers multiply together when you value a pet.
Which tier to chase
- For trade value, Galaxy and Demon lead; Diamond follows.
- A timed galaxy event can temporarily raise the chance a rolled or obtained pet becomes Galaxy.
- Log the mutation tier from your own build before treating any value as current.
Value examples we logged
- Galaxy Brachiosaurus: about $31B per log (community report).
- Demon Bear: about $46.6M per log.
- Demon Cow: about $1.02M per log.
- Squid: +110% cash bonus regardless of its base rarity.

Common questions
My Timber Pets FAQ
What is the best mutation in My Timber Pets?
Galaxy is the rarest and generally most valuable mutation tier, followed by Demon and Diamond. Exact value still depends on the animal's rarity.
Is mutation the same as rarity?
No. Rarity is the roll tier from the Lucky Egg; mutation is a separate layer (Normal, Gold, Diamond, Demon, Galaxy) applied on top of the animal.
